A single line

By Connor Carlbom Aurum staff “There can be only one!” Not many movies are totally defined by one single line. In this case, that line was the only thing I knew about this movie before watching it. I didn’t know anything about the plot, characters, setting, anything- just that one line. My dad said I would like it though, and he knows what movies I would enjoy, so I checked it out.

Slightly over done

By Connor Carlbom Aurum staff Before I ever watched Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, I always thought that it was simply a b-movie, like Troll 2 or Plan 9 From Outer Space. However, this is not a straight-talking bad movie. This is one of THOSE movies that tries to be bad, and thus also tries to be funny. And, well, it works on some accounts.

One of my favorites

THIS is how you make a historical drama. Every director needs to follow the example that Ronald Maxwell set here, because there are only a few movies about war that can meet the level Gettysburg reaches. That’s right Michael Bay, the guy who directed Parent Trap and Little Darlings made a better war movie than you.

How Clint got his start

Clint Eastwood hasn’t always been a commonly-known name. Put yourself back in 1967: the Vietnam War was raging, Super Bowl I was played, and a little known Italian western was released to American audiences for the first time.

The title says it all

By Connor Carlbom Aurum Staff   John Carpenter is good at what he does. Back in the 80’s, he knew how to please people. His movies definitely aren’t Citizen Kane, but man, are they entertaining. This is especially true in the case of Big Trouble in Little China.
