This year’s Mines Medal ceremony was a great success. The event took place on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The ceremony honored Lee Rybeck Lynd, a professor from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Lynd was honored for his work dealing with sustainability and biofuels.
In his speech, Lynd said that, “There is abundant evidence that we are embarking on the third resource revolution in the history of mankind.”
There were 472 total people who attended this year’s ceremony, including students, faculty, administrators, and members of the community. This is the third time that the Mines Medal ceremony has been held, and each time has been more successful than the last.
