Aurum to host SDSM&T presidential debate

The Aurum student newspaper is hosting a debate for the student body presidential candidates on March 14, the Monday after spring break. The event begins at 4:15 p.m. in the Surbeck ballroom.

Each candidate will be asked to give his or her stance on various issues that pertain to the campus. At the end of the debate, there will be time for questions from the audience.

Petitions are still available, and they can be picked up in the Student Association office located in lower Surbeck. Each presidential candidate is required to select a vice presidential candidate as his or her running partner prior to collecting the 120 signatures from School of Mines students that are required for the petition. Petitions are due on Friday, March 4, at 4 p.m. in the Student Association office.

As of Wednesday, March 2, there were already two parties who submitted petitions. Carlos Beatty, Jr.(Pres.) and  Brian Vogel (VP) are running as a team, and Rika Beck (Pres.) is running with Kimberlynn Cameron (VP).

Katie Aurand of the Aurum student newspaper will moderate the debate.

Voting takes place online the Wednesday following the debate- March 16.

    Will someone be gathering transcripts of the debate? It would be nice to have that available on the website here as an update or something.
